Many members and attendees ask about how we should read our Bibles. Remembering that our Bibles should not be seen as a single book but instead as a collection of ancient and sacred writings, it is good and right to take time for reading and for study. We would even suggest calling this a spiritual discipline.
We find this important enough that we dedicated a 7-week sermon series to the topic, and part of how we understand the bible is as a sacrament: the lens through which we may experience the living, breathing, active present God.
When reading, consider including others in your reading. This could be daily or weekly, a regular check-up and discussion, or something else. We believe that engaging these sacred texts in community with others will be a blessing!
