Happy New Year to all you readers! Earlier this month, Cindy Rushing presented two well known nonfiction books by authors Cheryl Strayed and Bill Bryson who hiked, respectively, the Pacific Crest and Appalachian Trails. Both books were filled with adventure, sometimes harrowing and often very funny. We recommend them to you, whether or not you are a seasoned hiker.
On Tuesday, February 1, at 2pm, in the Fireside Library, we welcome Jean Thomas who will present Geraldine Brooks’ newest novel, Horse, which is an excellent work of historical fiction that should appeal to both American history buffs and to horse lovers.
As a reminder, our group has undertaken to read one book together this year, and to discuss it at our last meeting of the year, in May. The book is a collection of essays by popular author Ann Patchett – These Precious Days, and whether you read one or all of its essays, you will find it a warm and revealing account of the inner life of a successful author. It is available at Warwick’s, through Amazon and on your favorite e-reader, and wherever possible, our Library acquires copies of our books
