Welcome Becky Candra

Yep. You read that right. Just when you thought we had completed all the hoopla with Becky and her retirement, here she comes again. Let me explain...

Soon after I arrived and started becoming acquainted with the Church, our neighborhood, and the soon-to-be retiring director of the Nursery School, I realized the Church has a great prize in Becky Candra. It was just plain obvious to me that we had to find a way to keep Becky involved in a leadership capacity among us. Her expertise and relationships in the community were too valuable to lose. The more I learned of our church's mission goal of increasing our ministires to families with younger children, the way became to clear to me -- bringing Becky back on staff after her retirement to help us accomplish this mission goal. Fortunately God smiled upon the plan. Becky was open to take on a part-time responsibility as she moved into retirement; Alisa was open to working collaboratively with Becky toward this mission goal at the church; SPRC thoroughly supported the concept; and Finance Committee identified the funding. So I am pleased to announce that starting September 1st Becky Candra will serve as our Family Ministry Outreach Coordinator.

In this capacity, she will "coordinate activities and connections between community families and the church, with special emphasis on families who are not members of LJUMC and who have a past or present connection with the Church's Nursery School, and will work closely with the Director of Youth and Children's Ministries to coordinate special children and family events, and assist, when needed, with Sunday morning organization and volunteer teacher training." I am very happy to have Becky on the Church Staff, and I encourage everyone to welcome Becky in her new capacity among us. With the addition of her gifts and graces, we will move further along in our ministries to our young families.
