Casting the Future - Church Coaching Weekend

on March 01, 2017 by Walt Dilg

Our Church Coach Paul Nixon will be joining us the weekend of March 17-19.  He will meet with the Lead Team on Friday night, and then with five various focus groups that address specific ministry concerns on Saturday.  Sunday, he will be present for worship and additional general conversations.

We introduced Paul to the congregation during worship on Sunday, January 29th through a video he made just for us.  The worship that day focused on our call to serve God and neighbor by spreading the word of God’s merciful love and redeeming grace.  Our goal through this consultation process is to do exactly that, better than we are now, so we grow in membership and missional effectiveness.  At the end of worship that day, we joined together in a covenant prayer for our future.

Holy and Loving God,

you are wondrous and magnificent in our eyes; glory and honor be yours!

Walk with us through this process of strengthening our ministries

and more effectively fulfilling our mission.

We covenant with you to recommit ourselves to your purposes,

as we open ourselves to your inspiration and trust in your empowerment.

Deepen our resolve to face challenges and pursue opportunities

that lead us to our future that you are providing us.

If you do not have this prayer card at home posted in a visible place, you can get one in the Narthex or Church Office. Please post it, so you can be mindful of its words. This prayer will help each one of us stay focused on what we are about this Season of Jesus at LJ UMC.

May God bless our efforts to be faithful to our mission, of “making, maturing, and mobilizing disciples of Christ for the transformation of the world.”
