The Missions & Social Concerns Committee invites you to join us for an inspiring evening with Katherine Parker, a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church serving as a Health and Community Transformation Advisor with the United Mission to Nepal (UMN).
Katherine’s work in Nepal is focused in three areas: 1) Adolescent empowerment, including sexual reproductive health and rights and menstrual hygiene; 2) Maternal and child health; and 3) Water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). The United Mission to Nepal works in five areas for community transformation: education, health, hospitals, peace building, and sustainable livelihoods.
You are invited to hear about Katherine’s amazing accomplishments as she shares pictures and stories of her six years of service. Katherine serves with the health team in the United Mission to Nepal where she hikes to various remote villages. Her mission work includes visiting schools to conduct workshops on sanitation, drinking water, and other hygiene issues. The youth with their new knowledge transform families and the whole community. This is a short video that illustrates some of Katherine’s work with the women in Nepal: https://vimeo.com/164751848
This evening will be a unique opportunity to learn about Nepal and the accomplishments of our global ministry in improving lives in this region. A reception hosted by UMW will follow the presentation.
